Nicole Heinen - Voice

Noted for her "golden-voiced" singing (Voix des Arts) and "deft hand at verbal and physical comedy" (The Isthmus), American soprano Nicole Heinen (she/her/hers) has dazzled audiences with her demanding stage presence. Praised by the Journal Sentinel for her “clear, ringing sound and facile technique”, Ms. Heinen is establishing herself as an artist to watch.

 

Nicole has an exciting 2024/2025 season ahead of her with several role debuts including Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) with Pensacola Opera as well as Giannetta and covering Adina (L’elisir d’amore) with New Orleans Opera. Ms. Heinen will also present a solo musical theater/cabaret concert at Pensacola Opera and will be a featured concert artist at the Caroga Lake Music Festival. 

 

Ms. Heinen spent her 2023/2024 season as a resident artist with Pensacola Opera where she made her debut as Despina (Così fan tutte), Adele (Die Fledermaus) and covered the titular role of Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor).  Nicole also made her Pensacola Choral Society debut as the soprano soloist in Handel's “Messiah”. 

The 2022/2023 season included a debut at Opera Louisiane as the soprano soloist in the double bill feature of Bernstein's "Bonne Cuisine" and Hoiby's "Bon Appétit!”, debut TV appearance as "Iolanta" in AMC's "Interview with the Vampire", and debut with the New Orleans Opera as the Dew Fairy (Hansel & Gretel). Nicole also returned to Florentine Opera where she made a role debut as Despina (Così fan tutte). 

 

In the 2021-22 season, Ms. Heinen sang Henrietta M. (The Mother of Us All) and covered Mukhtar Mai (Thumbprint), Lillian Russell (The Mother of Us All) and Un Pastore (Tosca) at the Chautauqua Opera Company. 

 

Ms. Heinen holds a Bachelors in Music from the Eastman School of Music and a Masters in Music from UW-Madison. She has won Mary Ellen Clancy Memorial Award (MIOpera Competition), the Wisconsin District  (MET Laffont Competition) and 4th place in the Mary Jacob Singer of the Year Competition. She was a finalist in the John Alexander Vocal Competition and Handel Aria Competition and a semi-finalist in the Premiere Opera Foundation Competition, Annapolis Vocal Competition, Zenith Opera Competition and the Orpheus Vocal Competition.
